The now disbanded local daily Haatuf and her sister paper Somaliland Times boss Mr. Yusuf Abdi Gabobe and his Editor-in-Chief Mr. Ahmed Ali Egge have been imprisoned by police.
The duos were to appear before Marodijeeh regional court for the hearing of their case.
Mr. Yusuf is accused of defamation by the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Mr. Hussein Abdi Duale and the son-in-law of the president Mr. Bashe Ali Omar.
The Haatuf daily published an article where in the two complainants are alleged of involvement in corruption.
Strangely the Minister of Internal Security Mr. Ali Mohamed Waranade was at the courts.
According to the defense lawyers they were forced to leave the law courts when it was clear that the hurriedly passed judgment was influenced by the Internal Security Minister who even bragged that he can do what he deems fit.
The Haatuf lawyers also accused the magistrate presiding over the case as biased and vowed to follow up the case to higher authorities.
Some Human Right Commissioner at the venue said it was a travesty of Justice on the part of the government.
Somaliland is yet again being dragged into the muck of tyranny since coming to power the regime of President Ahmed Mohamed Mohamud alias Silanyo has been rated as the worst leader in the 23 years. The country has been independent in terms of freedom of expression.
