Somaliland: Delegation meets with Western Diplomats
The chairman of Peace, Unity and Development party dubbed “Kulmiye” in Somali Hon. Musa Bihi Abdi met with American ambassador and the European Union envoy based in Kenya. The chairman who is also the party’s presidential flag bearer in the upcoming presidential polls led high level delegation to Kenya so as to meet and hold discussions with countries that support Somaliland’s democratisation process. He met with Hon. Mr. Stephen Michael Schwartz, the American ambassador to Somalia and Mrs. Veronique Lorenzo, UE ambassador in Nairobi.
The chairman of Somaliland’s ruling Kulmiye party is flanked by the First deputy chairman Hon. Mohamed Ahmed Kahin and Water affairs minister, Hon. Husein Abdi Boss. The delegation briefed the western diplomats on the drought that left behind the devastating impact of livestock and pastoralists in Somaliland.The delegation said that more than 2 million people are on the brink of death unless urgent aid is delivered on time.
The delegation has not hesitated to apprise western diplomats that the int’l community failed to respond to the dire situation and the catastrophe that hit the region.They have called on aid agencies and the world to make an urgent response in regard to the situation.The western diplomats were also briefed on the postponement of the elections due to the circumstances that hampered the elections to be held on time.Kulmiye chairperson has appealed to western diplomats to continue the unwavering support to Somaliland when it comes to the elections.Mr. Musa has said that Somaliland is willing to live side by side in peace and prosperity with the neighbouring countries in the Horn of Africa.
Both western diplomats have promised to play a huge role in the responding to the catastrophe that hit most rural areas in Somaliland.
