UK to Send Observers to Somaliland Elections.

The UK government announced that it will send observers to Somaliland presidential elections on 13th Nov. This follows calls from opposition parties failed to put trust to local organizations that were supposed to monitor the elections.

UK minister for Africa, Hon. Rory Stewart has made the announcement during question and answer sessions at the House of Commons.UK is among the countries that support the democratization process in Somaliland. It provided 218 billion pounds to support the presidential elections in Somaliland.

The minister responding to a question asked by Hon. Stephen Doughty, he said that the UK will provide 1.4 millions pounds for implementation of Somaliland presidential elections. He said that the later funds will be used to carry out voter education project before the 13th November polls.The minister has asserted that the UK will further pay 202,017 dollars for sending 60 observers from the UK to Somaliland to monitor the elections.
